Minutes of the meeting of the Friends of Ruskin Park, held on Thursday, 19th February at 7.45 p.m.
Present: Councillor Veronica Hardstaff (Chair), Keith Gower, Louise Gower, Richard Saunders & Fraser McDermot (Ranger Service)

Minutes of the meeting held 27th January 2004
These were agreed as a correct
record. It was noted that as the minutes and next meeting details had not
been circulated, attendance for this meeting was low.
1) Matters arising
VH has confirmed to
Walkley Festival committee the date of our Fun Day – 3rd July.
Rangers have confirmed that a skip will be available for Clean up day – 8th May
Action: VH to contact Student volunteer group to look for assistance at clean up day
2) Lottery
bid/ Application
VH talked through the
sections of the application that she has drafted. All agreed that this is
an excellent start, discussed wording and made minor amendments. This covers
section B of the form and is the most “wordy” part.
Actions ready for next meeting:
VH to obtain further details, such as free school meal %age for Walkley Primary schools and complete as much of remainder of application as follows.
LG/KG to get on-line application and complete with details already agreed.
3) Annual clean up
Date scheduled for Saturday May 8th 10-12.30. Ranger Service will
get involved, potentially in keeping children entertained through nature
hunts etc.
4) Walkley Festival Fun Day – 3rd July
Agreed options would be discussed at next meeting
5) AOB
Rangers confirmed that Garden Room funding available for 6 “Art in the Park” events in the Park over the next year. Event on Sunday 15th February was well attended although limited notice was given. Rangers hope to be able to give more notice of future events and will mail all Friends with details.
6) Date and time of next meeting – note new venue
This will be held at Louise and Keith’s house – 23 Cromwell Street.
Tuesday 16th March - 7.45 start.
