FRIENDS OF RUSKIN PARK

Play area ideas following community consultation.

Following an open day on 17th March 2001 and other meetings, Friends of Ruskin Park are able to highlight the types of play equipment the local community would like for their play area. This play area is well used by children from the neighbourhood as well as schoolchildren from St. Mary's C of E and Walkley Primary schools.

Swings for juniors and toddlers

Combined unit and climbing frame, including climbing wall. (E.g. Hags Limerick Unit)

Toddlers combined unit (e.g. Hags Formigal)

Obstacle course

Aerial runway (see Magna play area for a good example)

HPL Spring Pony and Spring Turtle (Hags Kl)

Wheelchair accessible equipment e.g. Hags Special Detroit Unit.

Multipondo seesaw (Hags)

General comments from local people suggest that the following would significantly enhance the play area:

The play area to be fenced off and dog-free.

Toddler and junior play areas linked together.

Soft surfacing in the play area.

More dog bins.

More litter bins, more frequently emptied.

A special place for teenagers.

More seating around the play area.

The hard football pitch to be renovated for multi-purpose use.
