3) Next steps – fundraising
We discussed various courses aimed at helping groups like ours apply for funding.
BW will try to go on a business plan course being offered at High Hazels Park on 13th January.
One or more of KG, LG and VH will try to attend the Community Fund Large Project DIY Guide meeting 10 am to 12.30 pm Tuesday 20th January.
LG and possibly BW are interested in attending an introduction to fundraising course on 12th February.
We also discussed possible sources of section 106 money.
JM suggested that we ask James Barnes (community officer) if it would be possible to get a small grant to cover course fees.
LG and KG spoke to Tim Rose about the school’s interest in Ruskin Park. The school is keen to use the park. Tim Rose agreed to circulate a letter arranging a meeting of the parents’ association (Friends of St. Mary’s), and suggested that body might be interested in helping to fundraise.
4) Walkley Festival
We decided to put Walkley Festival on the agenda for the next meeting. The festival will take place between Saturday June 21st and Sunday July 4th 2004. We would like to stage some sort of event, so put on your thinking caps please.
5) Any other business
KG mentioned that he thought he had seen a bit of the fence near the MUGA down recently. He believed it had been put back up, but wondered who should be contacted to report any such problems. JM suggested contacting Jon Barker (Assistant Maintenance Officer) on 0114 250 0500.
